Ravnsborg will not run for re-election

Ravnsborg1PIERRE, S.D. — Mike Deaver, spokesperson for South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg, announced Friday that Ravnsborg will not run for re-election for the state’s Attorney Generals Office.

The Director of the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, David Natvig, has announced his bid for the Republican nomination for A.G.

Natvig’s announcement sets up what will be a showdown at the GOP convention June 23 through 25. He will face Marty Jackley, a former attorney general who mounted a campaign to unseat Ravnsborg as he faced impeachment for his actions surrounding a 2020 car crash in which he struck and killed a pedestrian.

The South Dakota House of Representatives voted to impeach Ravnsborg with a vote of 36 to 31.  The South Dakota Senate has scheduled his impeachment trial for June 21-22.
