City officials are impressed with ridership among youth in Rapid City
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Youth ridership on Rapid City’s RapidRide program is up almost 93 percent from October 2016.
The numbers from the last two years have impressed city officials, who have adamantly spread the word about the program.
October youth ridership totaled over 16,000 passengers, a solid 25 percent increase over the estimated 13,000 passenger trips same time last year.
Darrell Shoemaker, the communications coordinator for Rapid City, talked about the growing popularity of the program.
“I think word-of-mouth has been very important as far as a convenient option for our kids to get to school, to get to activities. We know it’s a convenient option for their parents, and we’re not even into the real cold wintry months yet.”
