Rapid City woman arrested after firing handgun down alley

RAPID CITY, S.D. — One woman is in jail on drug and firearm charges after she fired a handgun down an alley Thursday afternoon.

On April 22nd at around 3:55 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1000 block of North 7th Street for a report of a female that was observed firing a handgun in the area.

On arrival, police made contact with a witness who told police they had observed the female walking down an alleyway. At one point the female removed a handgun from her backpack and fired it down the alleyway.

A female matching the description of the shooting suspect was located walking in an alleyway between the 800 blocks of Allen Avenue and North 7th Street. Police attempted to detain her in handcuffs. While doing so, she quickly reached across her body in an attempt to grab something concealed in her armpit.

Officers were able to pin her up against a nearby fence and place her into handcuffs. She was positively identified as 20-year-old Danisha Andrews Red Cloud of Rapid City.

Police located a loaded handgun concealed in her armpit area. A search of her bag turned up methamphetamine and, on further investigation, the handgun was determined to be stolen.

She was placed under arrest and transported to the Pennington County Jail. While there, more drugs were located on her person and she spit on a deputy.

She was ultimately placed under arrest for Commission of a Felony with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with a Prior Felony Drug Conviction, Obstruction, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unauthorized Article in Jail (Drugs), Spitting on an Officer, and an outstanding Warrant.
