Rapid City water system expansion project receives national recognition

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Rapid City water system expansion project has been chosen as one of ten projects to receive national recognition as a 2019 ‘Aquarius Exceptional Project’.

The East Rapid City water system expansion project was built to provide high-quality water to nearly 250 homes and more than 600 people — some of whom have been without clean drinking water for quite some time.

“Probably since the subdivision was built, they were served by wells that did not meet clean drinking water standards. When I saw all the people who were benefiting from it … it helped make the project that much better,” said Morgan Falcone, project engineer.

The total project funding was $7 million of which $1.5 million was contributed by the city.
