Rapid City “Trump caravan” shows support for 2020 Republican candidates

RAPID CITY, S.D. — With only days left to the election, locals wanted to get the message out to vote.

The Pennington County Republicans held a “Trump Caravan” through Rapid City Saturday afternoon. The event was intended to bolster support for Republican candidates and to remind people to vote.

Organizers expected about 50 vehicles but turnout for the caravan was much larger than anticipated. They say they lost track of the vehicle count, and this, all in support of the 2020 Republican candidates.

“It’s all in support of President Trump and in support of the candidates in Pennington County who are running for public office,” said Jeff Holbrook, chairman of the Pennington County Republicans. “And it’s just a great day to get together and show people how much we love the United States of America.”

Although the event was hosted by local republicans, in support of republicans, Holbrook says the message to every voter is ‘get out and vote’ regardless of political affiliation.

“Whether you vote Republican or Democrat,” said Holbrook. “Frankly, I don’t care. The vote is your voice and that is the most important thing in this thing that we call a constitutional republic. So, get out and vote, your vote does count. No matter if it’s just one vote, but all together, it’s a big deal. So go, and vote, please.”

If you can’t make it to the polls on Tuesday, you still have until close-of-business Monday to either drop off your absentee ballot or vote early in person at your county auditor’s office.
