Rapid City state prison inmate placed on escape status

InmatejeraldbrownRAPID CITY, S.D. — A 38-year-old minimum-security inmate has been placed on escape status after failing to return from his work release job on Thursday.

Jerald Brown is a Native American male, five-foot-nine and weighing approximately 180lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

He is serving time on multiple convictions related to possession of a controlled substance out of Pennington County. His failure to return to the Work Center is considered second-degree escape, a class 5 felony with a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
