Rapid City spreading its downtown roots with new plant store

On Saturday, February 26, UPROOTED will open its doors to the public at their new location on 806 St. Joseph Street next to Hippie Haven.

The store began as a mobile business in May of 2021, where Hippie Haven and Bestowed Essentials owner Callee Ackland taught classes and held plant pop-ups across the Black Hills region.

“Like many, I became a devoted plant parent during the pandemic. Because of the lack of healthy, high-quality houseplants for sale in the area, I decided to solve that problem and make use of my old van by starting a mobile plant shop,” Ackland said. “It’s blossomed so much since then.”

In coordination with Rapid City local and current owner of UPROOTED Justice Fuegan, the store will continue its previous ventures along with providing a physical space downtown for people to visit regardless of their gardening experience.
