Rapid City Rush ready for home opener
RAPID CITY, S.D. – There’s always something special about playing hockey in front of your loyal fans.
The Rapid City Rush will finally get the chance to play at home this year as they host the Utah Grizzlies this Friday and Saturday.
The Rush started the season with a five-game road trip and finished with a record of 3-1-1. In fact, the Rush earned seven out of 10 points by sweeping the Tulsa Oilers.
Now Rapid City is gearing up for its home opener on Friday against Utah.
It’s a special home opener for the Rush as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of winning the CHL Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup.
Fans will have a chance to meet 17 players from the championship team prior to Friday night’s game.
“For our end, we don’t want our guys distracted or get caught up in that,” Rapid City Rush head coach Daniel Tetrault said. “We have to focus on our games and win games. But at the same time, it’s a big big weekend for the community, for the Rush organization, and for all the fans and old players that won that championship. Its going to be exciting. Its going to be electric and a lot of fun.”
Tickets are still available for the Rush games on Friday and Saturday. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m both nights.
