Rapid City Rush hire new assistant coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush are excited to announce the latest addition to the team.

Former Rush defenseman Jeremy Gates has been named the new assistant coach.

A native of Jackson, Michigan, Gates spent last season as the assistant coach for the SPHL’s Pensacola Ice Flyers

He played 18 games for the Rapid City Rush back in 2014-15 and registered nine points.

Gates is excited to be back in Rapid City.

“Well I always enjoyed playing in Rapid City,” Rush assistant coach Jeremy Gates said. “It was a great community, great arena. The fans are great. The organization was always great. It’s an exciting time too especially right now with the affiliation we have with Arizona and Tucson. Plus the new ownership group that’s here, as well. It’s an exciting time to be in Rush Nation.” 20

“He’s very passionate about the game,” Rush head coach Daniel Tetrault said. “He’s going to be here full time. He’s excited to get going. He’s been on the phone recruiting. He knows a lot of players at the Southern Pro level. So when injuries happen in January and we need players, he knows all those players.”  17
