Rapid City Rush defeat division leader Utah Grizzlies

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush opened a four – game series against the Utah Grizzlies on Monday and shut out the No. 1 team in the Mountain Division.

The Rush defeated the Grizzlies 3-0 thanks to 46 saves from Lukas Parik.

That was a season high for a Rapid City goaltender and the most Parik has recorded in his professional career.

The Rush improve to 12-12 -1-2 on the season and remain in fourth place in the Mountain Division.

Rapid City will continue its series against Utah with game two on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Monument.

“Before our little break there, we went to Idaho and they were the number one team,” said Rush head coach Scott Burt. “We showed up on Wednesday. We had a big win. Then they came out. They had a good practice the next day. I’m talking about Idaho and we were kind of on our heels. So today was a little bit of a work day. Our guys had a good break. But I don’t want my team getting complacent. Everyday we have to work. Everyday we have to get better. Everyday we got to do what we need to do to continue to climb our standings.”
