Rapid City Regional Airport passenger numbers break all-time record

RAPID CITY, SD — Rapid City Regional Airport continues to soar to new heights as passenger numbers break an all time high.

In June, 38,408 passengers boarded planes at RAP setting the record for the most in a single month.

708 flights took off last month, up from 613 in June of 2018.

So far this year, over 298,000 passengers have flown out of RAP, up from 266,000 this time last year.

“There are more available seats in the market and therefore there are more people who are coming into Rapid City and more people able to get out of Rapid City.” said Patrick Dame, Executive Director of Rapid City Regional Airport, “Its a great economic engine for this community.”

Earlier this year, the airport announced multiple new destinations to appeal to travelers including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
