Rapid City Public Library holds event for National Voter Registration Day
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day.
Since it was first observed in 2012, nearly 4.5 million voters have been registered during the event.
Held on the last Tuesday of September, volunteers nationwide hit the streets for a day of coordinated registration efforts. The event’s goal is to make sure everyone who is eligible to vote has the opportunity.
“We figured it was a service we should offer to the community – you know, we’re a community hub and we want to make sure that everybody is taking part in our community and this seemed like a good way to do that,” says Carrie Bond, a librarian at the Rapid City Public Library who volunteers to man the event.
If you missed Tuesday’s event, you can always register at your county Auditor’s office.
