Rapid City police searching for suspect in armed robbery
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in Rapid City early Thursday morning. They are currently looking for the suspect involved.
The incident happened around 12:20 a.m. at the Loaf ‘N Jug at 1601 North Haines Avenue.
After arriving an employee told police he was working at the counter earlier in the evening when an unknown male subject entered the store and attempted to conceal two beer cans under his sweatshirt. The employee confronted the unknown male, recovered the items, and told him to leave the store.
Several minutes later, the employee was standing outside when the same unknown male approached him and brandished a handgun. The suspect demanded items from the employee before fleeing the scene to the west with the items.
The suspect is described by witnesses as a Native American male in his mid-20s standing about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt over a white t-shirt, dark colored pants, and black tennis shoes.
