Rapid City Police make two DUI arrests over the weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Police Department had two new DUI arrests this weekend, beginning with a hit and run accident.

On the evening of March 1, police were called when a vehicle lost control and hit a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of Racine St. The suspect driver had reportedly been seen leaving the vehicle on foot.

Police located a man matching the driver’s description a few blocks away near Milwaukee St. and E. Jackson St. When police attempted to detain the suspect, he became uncooperative and briefly struggled with the officers. The man was identified as Harris Blue Legs and was found carrying the keys for the vehicle involved in the hit and run crash.

Officers determined Blue Legs was too impaired to be driving, and placed him under arrest for his third DUI, as well as leaving the scene of an accident and driving under revocation. Blue Legs was transported to the Pennington County Jail.

Another arrest took place at night on March 3, when police received a report of a vehicle that crashed into a retaining wall outside of a residence. Police responding to the call found the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Alonna Engebretson.

When police conducted a DUI investigation, Engebretson was found to bee too impaired to safely operate a vehicle. She was placed under arrest and transported to Pennington County Jail.
