Rapid City Police investigating string of vandalism

RAPID CITY, S.D.– Police are investigating a series of businesses vandalized during the morning of February 7.

Around 2:20 am, officers were dispatched for an alarm call on the 2200 block of Haines Avenue for an alarm call. No one was in the building, but one of the building’s windows was broken into.

A short time later, police discovered a nearby business on the 300 block of Knollwood Drive with a broken glass door.

Around 5:00 am, police were called to a third building on the 1800 block of Haines Avenue where the front door had been broken into. Once inside, officers found cash registers had been opened and that money was removed. Security footage showed two juvenile males had broken in and taken the money.

A fourth call came in around 8:05 a.m., where officials were called to the 2100 block of Haines Avenue where they found a broken glass door. Surveillance footage showed and helped identify one of the juvenile males.

The case is still considered active.
