Rapid City Police Department searching for Grandview Elementary School burglary suspect

RAPID CITY, S.D. — At around 12:20 a.m. Feb. 18, Rapid City Police Department officers were dispatched to Grandview Elementary School for a report of a burglary.

When they arrived on scene, police made contact with an employee of the school district who said they had just arrived at the school and observed signs of a break-in. Officers entered the building to ensure there wasn’t anyone still inside. No one was located as officers cleared the building.

A review of video footage from inside the school showed a suspect make entry before causing some damage to an interior gate. Police also observed a large quantity of paper/files were strewn around in the main office.

The suspect is described as a slender male wearing black pants, a blue hoodie and gloves.
