Rapid City Parks and Rec seeks summer workers
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Summer jobs are wide open in Rapid City’s Parks and Recreation division, ranging from lifeguarding, golf course gardening and leading youth programs.
These are all part-time positions and applicants need to be 14 or older to apply. But for a few jobs like maintenance, applicants must be at least 18. Lifeguards must be at least 15 and go through training, provided by the city, to land the job.
Officials say these are also a good opportunity for college students to make some extra summer cash.
“The awesome part about it is every year, especially for college students that come back every year, they can almost guarantee that they have a position,” explains City of Rapid City Recreation Division Manager, Doug Lowe. “If they do a really good job, they know that they’re probably going to be able to be welcomed back with open arms for all four years while they’re going to school.”
