Rapid City offers discounted customer service line protection plan
The city has partnered with the SLWA to provide discounts for Customer service lines that run through their property
Rapid City residents will be receiving another round of letters beginning this week regarding optional customer service line protection plans, and it is not a scam.
The City of Rapid City has partnered with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) to offer optional coverage to residents regarding their buried utility lines.
Damage to pipes on homeowners’ property is not covered by basic homeowners’ insurance or by the city.
Darrell Shoemaker, Communications Coordinator for Rapid City had this to say.
“It’s important because homeowners don’t realize that they’re responsible for any issues that happens between the main and their home,” Shoemaker stated. “It can run into several thousands of dollars whenever there’s an issue, so basically when they get the letters, look over the material.”
The partnership between the city and the SLWA has allowed the city to offer discounted rates for the insurance.
The letter will explain coverage examples and different plan options.
