Rapid City New Year’s Day standoff suspect faces 50 charges

RAPID CITY S.D. -The man arrested after an hours-long stand-off with police, in the middle of a busy Rapid City neighborhood now faces a slew of charges.

30-year-old Jordan Wounded Face of Rapid City opened fire when police officers went to do a welfare check, and did so again during the standoff on Racine Street.

Wounded Face is charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, 6 counts of discharge of a firearm at an occupied structure, 42 counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, and ingestion of a substance (excluding alcohol) to intoxicate.

No one was injured by gunfire. During the standoff,  the Pennington County Special Response Team was called out along with the Rapid City Police Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Rapid City Fire Department.

Wounded Face remains in the Pennington County Jail.
