Rapid City man identified as drowning victim at Memorial Park

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Rapid City man has been identified as the drowning victim in Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 27.

59-year-old William Barber fell into the pond at Memorial Park while trying to retrieve a remote-controlled boat.

Law enforcement were called to the scene around 2:45 p.m. to search for Barber, which took under an hour to pull him from the water.

Rescuers attempted to revive Barber on scene, but were unsuccessful.
