Rapid City man hospitalized after being stabbed during fight with roommate

RAPID CITY, S.D. — An apparent altercation between roommates Tuesday night put one in the hospital from multiple stab wounds.

Rapid City Police responded to a call around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night near Canyon Lake Drive and Harter Drive. According to the RCPD, two male roommates had been fighting with each other when, during the course of the fight, one began to choke the other.

The one being choked stabbed the other man in the left side of his chest twice, leaving him with what authorities describe as “fairly deep wounds”. The seriously wounded man was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. He is expected to recover.

Both men were taken into custody and are fully cooperating with law enforcement. Charges are pending further investigation.

Names have not been released, but the man in the hospital is 48 years old, and the other man is 58 years old.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
