Rapid City man arrested for shooting at a person

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police responded early Wednesday morning for reports of gun shots and one person shooting at another person.

Around 12:32 a.m. RCPD arrived to the area of Saint Patrick Street and 5th Street. They located a male victim, who was not shot, but was shot at. Law enforcement officers interviewed witnesses and received a description of the suspect and what vehicle he was driving.

The male suspect was located at a residence in the 800 block of Herman Street. RCPD was able to identify the man as Nathaniel Jones, 53, of Rapid City based on the evidence at the scene and information gained from witnesses.

With a search warrant, detectives were able to recover a firearm that is believed to have been used during this incident and Jones was arrested for aggravated assault before being transported to the Pennington County Jail.
