Rapid City launches interactive map of road construction

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A new resource from Rapid City might make your commute a little easier.

The city’s GIS, or Geographic Information System, will launch the road construction site on Monday. The website allows visitors to view highlighted areas of construction projects.

Angela Tallon, GIS Division Manager, says “It is going to provide a visual aide for users so they can see where construction projects are happening so they know where to avoid users will be able to click on each of the segments that are on the map itself and find out where the project is at the extent of the project the duration of the project and who the contractor is.”

This is the second new feature on the GIS website, the other is ‘Pennington Outdoors’ an interactive map to explore recreational facilities and opportunities around the Black Hills.
