Rapid City juvenile struck, severely injured as vehicle plows through yards

UPDATE: (3:54 p.m.) – According to the Rapid City Police Department, a male was driving the vehicle.

His age is not known yet, and no charges are being issued at this time.

A 14-year-old girl of Rapid City sustained serious injuries after being struck by the vehicle.

The Drone Team of the RCPD is also aiding in the investigation.

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Police Department is investigating a serious crash that occurred Friday.

A black Chevrolet SUV was heading eastbound in the 4600 block of South Canyon Road when it left the roadway. The vehicle then traveled at least three residential yards before finally coming to a stop against a tree.

A juvenile pedestrian was struck by the vehicle and sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
