Rapid City inmate placed on escape status
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Ira Wright, 30, a State prison inmate has been placed on escape status as of yesterday.
Wright failed to return to the Rapid City Community Work Center following a job search.
According to the Department of Corrections, failure to return following assignment or temporary leave constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5-years in prison.
Wright is described as a Native American male, five-feet-ten-inches tall weighing 125 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
He is serving a 9-year, 6-month sentence for grand theft from Pennington County. The public is being encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately if they see or know of Wright’s whereabouts.
