Rapid City emergency personnel to undergo hazardous material training

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The South Dakota National Guard, Rapid City Fire Department and Pennington County Emergency Management will be undergoing hazardous chemical training exercises this Wednesday.

The training session will take place in the morning on January 16th at Black Hills Energy on Deadwood Avenue.

The course will cover proper response and handling of materials that threaten human health and safety.

According to a press release from Rapid City Pennington County Emergency Management, the training won’t affect traffic in the area and signs will be posted where drills and exercises are to take place.

RCPCEM also says to disregard any radio traffic related to the drills during that time.
