Rapid City Disability Committee to host ice skating event
RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City’s Disability Awareness and Accessibility Committee is partnering with Main Street Square to host the All Ability Ice Skating Day on Saturday, January 29 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Square’s ice rink.
The event emphasizes on providing people with disabilities the opportunity to skate, learning how to skate and will be open to the public.
“The Disability Awareness and Accessibility Committee is exited to host this all abilities, family-fun event,” said Committee chairman, Dr. Steven Massopust. “There will be free skates, free parking and free hot chocolate with plenty of warming stations and adaptive equipment available.”
There will be free parking for both on-street parking and in the downtown parking structure for vehicles displaying proper permitting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hockey players from the Rushmore Thunder will also be assisting during the event.
“We encourage those with disabilities who want to skate or to learn to skate to come out and have a great and memorable experience,” said Dr. Massopust.
