Rapid City Council approves curfew resolution in emergency situations

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Monday night, the Rapid City Council approved a resolution that authorizes Mayor Steve Allender to declare a curfew in emergency situations.

The measure passed unanimously. Under the resolution, the Mayor’s authority to impose a curfew expires in 60 days.

The resolution allows the mayor to impose a curfew in order to prevent riots, and to preserve the peace, safety and health of community members and residents.
