Rapid City completes phase one of downtown lightning project

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The first phase of Rapid City’s downtown lighting project is complete

Phase one started in March with replacing fixtures in a 20 city block area on Main and Saint Joseph streets, from East Boulevard to West Boulevard.

The current downtown lighting system was installed in 1991.

Phase two will involve replacing old wiring vaults, and adding three 16-foot poles to each city block.

That work will begin in late summer and should be completed early next year.
