Rapid City community thanks local service members

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Friday, the community took time out of its night to show thanks and support for our local men and women in uniform.

The Rapid City community showed up to the Central States Fairgrounds for the 35th annual Military Appreciation BBQ.

Many were honored, including 10 service members from both Ellsworth Air Force Base and the South Dakota National Guard, two military spouses, two civilian employees and one military friendly business.

Of the honorees was Ellsworth’s Senior Airman Christopher Bucciarelli.

“The commeraderie is great,” said SRA Bucciarelli. “We all work together really well, I mean, in my job, I’m one of the funding guys for the wing, so I work with a lot of different agencies and everybody’s very together. Everybody is always on board. And there’s a problem. Everybody tries to work together to fix it.”

The event wrapped up at 8 p.m.
