Rapid City Christian hires new football coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Christian Comets will have a new head football coach this fall.

Athletic Director Kyle Courtney announced Monday that Nathan Long has been named the Comets new head coach.

Long will be an off-campus coach because he is currently employed as an ER doctor in Rapid City.

He inherits a team that finished 5-6 last year and made it all the way to the quarterfinal round of the Class 9AA football playoffs.

Long will also help the Comets make the jump to 11-man football this fall and enter their first season in the Black Hills Conference.

He replaces Ben Connot who accepted a teaching position in Winner after spending one season with the Comets.
