Rapid City Christian head football coach steps down after one season

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Christian will have a new head football coach this fall.

Ben Connot is stepping down after just one season with the Comets.

Connot led Rapid City Christian to a 5-6 record this past season.

The Comets also made it to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs for the first time in school history.

Connot was a two-time state football champion at Winner High School.

After college, Connot became the head football coach at Colome High School and led the Cowboys to a state title.

Connot and his family are moving back to Winner where he will teach at the middle school.

“It was a great experience what we were able to do and build,” said Ben Connot. “We started a lot of different things out here. I thought we ended the year on a really positive note, winning five of the last six games and going all the way to the quarterfinals for the first time in school history. So a lot of good things happened. We just had a kid a month ago and that was a big part of the deal. We just want to be closer to family and we kind of miss the small town life. Winner was really good to us while we were there. Working there last year.”
