Rapid City Central names new head girls basketball coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Central activities director Jordan Bauer announced Thursday the hiring of Josh Mach as the head girls basketball coach pending school board approval.

Mach has been coaching basketball for 14 years in South Dakota.

He coached boys basketball at Redfield – Doland for four seasons, three as the head coach.

From there, Mach went on to become the assistant boys basketball coach at Aberdeen Central and was the region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Prior to starting his teaching career, he was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina.

Mach takes over a Central team that was 17-7 this past season and finished seventh at the State ‘A’ Girls Basketball Tournament.

Mach replaces Allan Bertram who resigned last month after two years with the Cobblers.

Coach Bertram accepted the head women’s basketball position at Mount Marty University in Yankton.
