Rapid City bar owner expands businesses, purchases “Iconic” Sioux Falls bar

RAPID CITY, S.D. — An iconic east river bar is now under west river ownership.

Monk’s House of Ale Repute in Sioux Falls opened in 2007 under the ownership of Jerry Hauck. Now looking forward to retirement, he’s decided to sell, and the new owner is the Independent Ale House in Rapid City.

Independent Managing Director Justin Henricksen says that after inquiring about the Sioux Falls establishment, the decision to buy was a quick one.

“It wasn’t really a planned thing, it wasn’t even a thing that we’ve been working on for a couple of weeks,” Henricksen said. “It was a thing we worked on for about thirty seconds, no thirty minutes.”

Henricksen plans to do some light remodeling of his new property during the time of the pandemic, but other than that says Monk’s House of Ale Repute will pretty much stay status quo, keeping the name  and continuing to offer a wide variety of craft beers from local brewers.
