Rapid City Area Schools help local seniors celebrate graduation

RAPID CITY, S.D. — With graduation ceremonies for the Rapid City Area Schools either canceled, delayed or virtual, the district decided to something to show the students and their neighbors that they made it.

The senior leadership team and dozens of volunteers helped distribute yard signs for the graduates Wednesday. About 850 congratulatory signs, that feature their school’s mascot.

RCAS felt it was important to do something special for the class of 2020 since their senior years isn’t what anyone expected it to be.

Katy Urban, Community Relations Manager for RCAS, said “Our staff, they feel for these kids. They were with them at the beginning of the year and they want to give them some sort of a special send off and so we of course had plenty of volunteers.”

The signs were provided by Vanway Trophies.

All of them are expected to be distributed to the graduates by the end of the week.
