Rapid City area National Guard soldiers set for year-long deployment to Europe

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Ten soldiers with the Rapid City-based 129th Mobile Public Affairs Department are set to deploy on a year-long mission to Europe after receiving federal mobilization orders.

The 10 South Dakota National Guard soldiers will provide support to units operating in European command.

Those deploying include officers and mass communication specialists, who distribute broadcast media, facilitate civilian news media, and support command communications.

The unit will deploy to Fort Bliss in Texas for training before deploying overseas.
