Rapid City area continues to experience multi-foot drifts on roadways

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Street Department Superintendent Dale Pfeifle says many local areas continue to experience blowing and drifting issues, with multi-foot drifts in some roadways.

Plow crews have been working to clear emergency routes and main lines, only to have high winds create more drifting.

Additionally, freezing rain that happened just before snow started falling yesterday has left an icy base layer on many roadways.

Pfeifle says that contractors are being contacted to assist in plowing residential areas.

The public is urged to stay off roads.
