Airport seeing more traffic during the Rally

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Regional Airport is experiencing a bit more traffic due to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

During the entire month of August, there is typically an uptick in arrivals and departures. Some people like to get here right before the Rally and others leave after it is all over.

Last month the airport saw around 19,000 visitors, which is on the lower side for this season, but still better than what it has been throughout the pandemic.

“As we move into August and we start to see our August numbers which will come out in September, we anticipate those numbers to be even better,” says Executive Director, Patrick Dame.

The airport wants to remind passengers that they are continuously sanitizing the airport and encouraging people to wear masks in their facility.
