R.C.P.D. Chief Karl Jegeris retires

RAPID CITY, S.D. — That’s a wrap for Rapid City Police Chief Karl Jegeris, this was his last day on the job as he rides off into a well-earned retirement.

Jegeris served with R.C.P.D. for more than 24 years. He’s moving on now to the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota as it’s director of collaborative excellence.

Chief Jegeris started on the force in 1995, working his way up from school liaison officer, ultimately to chief in 2014.

While Jegeris says he’s seen it all and done it all, there’s one thing he will never forget.

“I will never forget the hard working, compassionate individuals that make up the Rapid City Police Department.” Said Chief Karl Jegeris of the R.C.P.D. “It’s kind of a sad thing to walk away from that team that I have been hanging out with for 40 plus hours every week. But I’m looking forward to my new challenge as well, its been fun.”
