President Trump declares disaster in South Dakota after COVID-19 cases reach 240
SOUTH DAKOTA — On Sunday, President Donald Trump declared a major disaster in the state of South Dakota, after the South Dakota Department of Health confirmed 28 new cases in the state.
Trump ordered federal assistance to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in areas affected by COVID-19.
Federal funding is available to state, tribal and certain eligible local governments as well as certain private non-profit organizations for emergency protective measures.
There are currently 240 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state of South Dakota with Minnehaha County holding the most cases with 104. 18 people have recovered.
