Rodeo Rapid City features PRCA Steer Wrestling

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rodeo Rapid City started the rodeo day off with PRCA Steer Wrestling Slack in the Summit Arena.

Steer Wrestling SlackCowboys from around the region mounted their horses and took off, giving their best attempt to catch up to and then tackle a steer. The assistance of another participant, or hazer, directs the steer in this event.

Noah Lassa started rodeo as a kid and follows in the footsteps of his dad and older brothers, all fellow steer wrestlers.

“It’s a thrill. It’s fast paced and they’re just good guys to be around,” Lassa says. “Rodeo is a family sport and everybody is rooting for you.”

Rodeo Rapid City events continue Tuesday with PRCA Tie Down Slack at 10 a.m. in the Summit Arena.
