Post 320 Stars to kick off 2021 season on Saturday
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Its that time of year again.
Rapid City Post 320 is set to kick off a new season on Saturday, April 24 at Pete Lien Field.
Head coach Brian Humphries and his team will be looking to improve this season after finishing 17-19 last year and losing to Post 22 in a three-game super regional playoff series.
Despite being a young team, the Stars return several key players including Gavyn Dansby, Gage Darrow, Lane Darrow and Garrett Grismer.
Plus, Humphries says he has a number of quality pitchers returning this season such as Logan Miller who’s currently finishing up his first year at Bismarck State.
“We have Jimmie Rodgers who’s a 17-year old senior,” said Brian Humphries. “He was a varsity player last year. Pitched more than hit. He’ll start at first base for me this year, as well as, be my number one pitcher until Miller does come back. So seeing him on the mound is going to be a weekly occurrence. We have Garrett Grismer who actually had the third lowest ERA on my team last year.”
Post 320 opens the season on Saturday with a doubleheader against Spearfish Post 164 starting at 1 p.m. at Pete Lien Field.
In fact, the Stars will play their first nine games at home.

“I set the schedule up this year, for the most part, varsity and JV are only playing game Thursday through Sunday,” said Humphries. “It’s much more similar to a Division I style of scheduling. It’s better for the pitching staff to where we’re not having five or six games in the course of a week when maybe you can only have three or four good pitchers pitch in six games during the week. We don’t have very many mid-week games. If we do, it’s a situation where we have four or five days off after that.”
