Post 320 ready to kick off new season against Miles City

It’s that time of year again. The month of May signals the start of the American Legion baseball season.

The Rapid City Post 320 Stars open the season on Saturday afternoon at home with a double header against Miles City, Montana starting at 1 p.m.

A lot has changed since last summer for Post 320 including several new players and a new coaching staff.

Former longtime Post 22 assistant coach Rich Downs is now the head coach for the Stars.

Coach Downs has high expectations for the season.

"It’s a new coaching staff," Post 320 head coach Rich Downs said. It’s a new mentality. It’s a whole new mindset and we’re really pushing that. There’s physicality that these players have had. Now we’ve got to get the mental part of the game put in with it. It’s going to be a process. We’re expecting by the end of the year to be a very competitive ball club. But we’re going to take our bumps along the way and we’ll deal with that and get better each day out."
