Post 22 sweeps Post 320, advances to State Tournament

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The American Legion baseball playoffs resumed on Monday night with the super regionals.

Post 22 squared off against the Post 320 Stars in a best-of-three game series at Pete Lien Field.

The Hardhats outlasted the Stars in the first game, 7-4.

Then Post 22 dominated Post 320 in the second game, 14-1

Post 22 advances to the state tournament which will be held Aug. 7-9 at Pete Lien Field in Rapid City.

The Hardhats are the No. 1 seed and will play their first game on Friday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Pierre and Renner also qualified for the state tournament.

Either Brandon Valley or Mitchell will fill the fourth and final spot.


Post 22 – 7, Post 320 – 4

Dylan Richey was outstanding on the mound for Post 22.

He lasted all seven innings, allowing ten hits and four runs while striking out eight and walking zero.

Richey also went 3-for-4 at the plate and had 3 RBIs.

Meanwhile, the Stars were led by Peyton Ness who had two hits and an RBI.

Mitchell Sand took the loss for Post 320. He allowed 11 hits and struck out two.


Post 22 – 14, Post 320 1

Post 22 lit up the scoreboard in the second game winning by a score of 14-1.

Bransen Kuehl led the Hardhats with two home runs and six RBIs.

Post 22 now enters the state tournament with a record of 34-10.

Meanwhile, Post 320 finishes the season with a 17-20 record.
