Post 22 opens State Legion Tournament with win over Renner

RAPID CITY, S.D. – After two rounds of playoffs, the field of 16 has been narrowed down to the final four in South Dakota Class ‘A’ American Legion baseball.

Those four teams will now battle it out for a state title at the 2020 South Dakota Class ‘A’ State Tournament.

The tournament kicked off Friday at Pete Lien Field in Rapid City.

The host team Post 22 defeated Renner Post 307 in the opening round by a final score of 6-2.

Zach Whitesell led the Hardhats on the mound. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out eight.

The Hardhats advance to the second round on Saturday where they will play Brandon Valley at 4:30 p.m.
