Post 22 opens season with sweep of Mitchell

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Post 22 finally kicked off its season on Saturday by hosting Mitchell Post 18 in a doubleheader at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Although there won’t be a regional tournament or an American Legion World Series, the Hardhats are still hoping to win a state title this

season.

Post 22 dominated the first game 18-3 and then rallied in the bottom of the fourth inning to win 8-5.

The Hardhats hat 10 hits in the first game.

Jake Goble, Blake Weaver and Dylan Richey each had two hits and three RBIs for Post 22.

Zach Whitesell was credited with the victory for Post 22.

He worked three and a third innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out one.

Post 22 will travel to Wyoming on Monday, June 8 to play the Gillette Riders before hosting Sturgis on Wednesday.
