Post 22 opens Class ‘A’ Legion baseball playoffs with a win over Renner

RAPID CITY, S.D. –  The Class ‘A’ American Legion baseball playoffs kicked off Friday across the state.

Post 22, the state defending champions, hosted Renner Post 307 in game one of a three-game series.

The game was tied at two heading into the bottom of the seventh inning.

Then Drew Scherbenske scored the winning run on a walk-off fielder’s choice by Luke Jegeris and Post 22 won 3-2.

Hunter Tillery was the winning pitcher for the Hardhats. He allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three.

Post 22 and Renner will continue their best-of-three game series on Saturday at 11 a.m.

If Renner wins the second game, they will play game three immediately after.
