Portions of Pine Ridge Reservation without power Friday morning

Pine Ridge Oglala FlagPINE RIDGE RESERVATION, S.D. — LaCreek Electric says that an equipment failure at the Shannon Substation has resulted in widespread power outages across the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Crews are out working on the issue and have restored power to Kyle, Porcupine, and Batesland as of approximately 7:30 a.m.

LaCreek says all other areas are still out of power as of the time of writing.

Oglala Sioux Tribe Vice President Alicia Mousseau authorized a two hour late start due to the outages.

Nebraska Public Power, which services parts of the Pine Ridge Reservation, sent a message to their members that power was expected to be restored by 8:45 a.m.
