Porcupine man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for Manslaughter

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A Porcupine, SD, man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for Voluntary Manslaughter.

Lawrence Pourier, or Larry Paourier, 52, was convicted for a crime where he reportedly struck a man multiple times in the head with a pipe-like object, which caused the man’s death in January of 2020.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Pourier was immediately taken into the custody of U.S. Marshals to begin serving his sentence. He also received three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
