Police respond to shooting of two people at motel Friday morning

RAPID CITY, S.D. — At about 3 A.M. on Friday, March 13, the Rapid City Police were dispatched to the Motel 6 on Latrobe Avenue for a report of a gunshot wound that was sustained in the area.

When the police arrived, they were unable to find the injured person.

A short time later, the police received word that the gunshot victim was located nearby. Police pursued the victim and located a female with a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to the hospital for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

A male who had been grazed by a bullet in the arm was also found, but the victim declined medical attention.

The police spoke to many individuals who weren’t able to give clear statements to the specific events surrounding the shooting. Detectives of the RCPD Criminal’s Investigation Division will continue to follow up on this incident.

There is no indication between the robbery located at the same location that occurred Wednesday.
